Thing is, we already have a way for businesses to contribute to/invest in public education: it's called "taxes". And (intending no disrespect to the speaker, whose business I know nothing about and whose heart seems very much in the right place) when businesses and business owners contribute to education through voluntary philanthropy while simultaneously lobbying as hard as they can to avoid being required to contribute through taxes, that doesn't impress me much.

I completed NB and certified in 2017 through the BIE initiative for tribal schools. (I worked for a tribal school in MS). Then I completed MOC, and they paid for that as well. They also paid you 1,000 for completing each component whether you passed or not. They also paid for mentors while completing the components through MSU- WCTP.

I'm on the NB committee for the state of Utah, but I really want to look into how to expand our reach and get more initiatives like those I've heard of today started up in the state of Utah!

Wisconsin is really good about reimbursing the cost and to provide an annual stipend for 10 years to NBCTs. Our district also provides an annual stipend for NBCTs, but I think funding it more locally would be my first move. I also think that it would be good to cover the costs upfront would be helpful to incentivize teachers.
